Colorado: The Rest of the Story

OK, So I’ve been super busy with a few projects for clients, but I got back from a nice trip to Colorado over the weekend, and have been putting these pics off, and am pretty excited to share :) I posted a teaser shot last week, and here’s the rest of the story:

I decided I would take my camera gear to the top of the mountain – and I did – but I realized after moving around the mountain later that day, that I didn’t really make it to the TIP TOP yet – there was a peak a little bit higher that took a little bit of work to get to.

The warning/disclaimer before attempting some craziness:

This is basically an attempt to butter up a couple of double black diamond runs that are pretty extreme to say the least.

Well, after seeing the contraption to get me to the top, there was no way I was going to risk taking that nice camera I shoot e-sessions and weddings with (I’m sure all of you whom I am shooting your e-sessions & weddings appreciate that part ;) )

For reference, please see exhibit A: the pole dangling from the wire with the gentleman about to mount

And Exhibit B: the way the pole is required to be utilized to get to the top

You literally take this lift up the mountain like you would ride a broomstick… and boy, I saw some interesting dismounts from this. The movie Bedknobs and Broomsticks comes to mind as people did faceplants into the snow trying to wrangle the stick and get to the top.

So I decided I would need a substitute, and rode to the top with our trusty point and shoot camera :) I admit, I did fall twice before I figured out how to ride the “broomstick” to the top.

Check out the view:

There isn’t really anything that comes close to looking face to face with mountain peaks…

And after you risk a couple of face plants to get to the top of an ultra-steep descent, a nice warning :)

A couple from the bottom

Surprisingly, it was a nice ride to the bottom!!

I’ve got tons more pictures I’m sure I’ll be posting somewhat randomly, but for now, I have to get back to finishing up a few projects. Thanks for checking my work out!!
